Colin Shlansky DiCarlo's Obituary
Colin Vaughn Shlansky DiCarlo
It is with the most profound sadness that we share Colin DiCarlo, beloved daughter of Lis Shlansky and Brian DiCarlo and sister to Gabrielle and Ryan DiCarlo passed away on November 19, 2023. While too short, her sweet and thoughtful impact on the world was felt by all who had the honor of interacting with her.
Born one of three, Colin spent her time growing up in the woods of Connecticut, playing outside in the hammock or trampoline or bike riding in the cul-de-sac with siblings close by. Her special interest in strategy games, history and science grew as she did, and she spent much of her teens and young adult life pursuing these hobbies. During childhood she enjoyed trips to Wellfleet, rides in the boat, exploring with her siblings and neighbors, video games and making culinary creations with her family.
Colin’s humor and wit far outnumbered her years on Earth and her remarkable intelligence on so many subjects is an homage to her inquisitive spirit. Only more impressive than her knowledge was her compassion for all living things and delicate perspective on life. One of Colin’s greatest joys was her dog, Tucker whom she cared for and provided the most loving and beautiful life. Her unmistakeable, gorgeous red hair always picked her out of a crowd, yet we know she stood out because of the strength, thoughtfulness, and light that she brought to this world. There will never be enough words to describe how loved she was and how important she was to her family.
She is survived by her siblings Gabrielle and Ryan DiCarlo and parents Lis Shlansky and husband Stuart Lieblich and Brian DiCarlo, aunts, uncles, and cousins across the US who will miss her so deeply. Her kindred spirit will live on through those who loved her.
“I will miss my best-friend so dearly. I pine to come home & see you in your usual spot on the couch & engage in goofy activity. You struggled so excruciatingly over the last 25 years but I always knew how to make you laugh & smile, no matter what. I was so fortunate to take care of you these past few years & I’m so so sorry for anything I ever did wrong. I feel so devastatingly lost & alone without you here.. It feels like there is a hole in my chest that can be patched, but never filled as it once was.. Although the pain of you not being here is excruciating I am glad you can finally rest. Everyone constantly prayed for you to find peace & while this is certainly the darkest end, we must have faith to walk this path & believe in the bigger picture. I will overcome & shine so bright for you & everyone else will bear witness. Never ever in a million lifetimes will I forget you or your memory, you will be with me everywhere I go until its my time, & when it is, I will be wearing a smile knowing I will be reunited my soulmate again soon. I love you with every ounce & fiber of my being Colin.”
-Your brother forever,
Ryan
