Speech from Bill’s granddaughter Payton Hickey (age 10) at the family memorial.
I love him very much and I wish he didn’t have to go but he is in a better place now. We should celebrate that he has no more pain. Though a piece of our puzzle is missing, it’s found a better place and one day we’ll get to go to that better place and all the pieces will be together again. Until then, we just wait and remember our loved ones. RIP Poppy
A gentleman's gentleman, a soldier's soldier. Bill was loved and admired by all of us who worked / served with him. I always called him "Father Hickey" as he reminded me of a fatherly pastor trying his best to keep us from getting into trouble with the Raytheon VPs!
Can't think of him without seeing his gentle smile and remembrance of good times.
RIP

Bill Hickey was one of the best people and commanders that I served with/met during my 26 years in the Army. He lead by example. One of the his major tenents was his love for his family (we spoke often about his sons and baseball) and his soldiers. I shall always remember his laughter and his intellect. Wow, I have many fond memories of serving with him in and around Spangdahlem/Hahn/Bitburg.
He and his family are in my thoughts and prayers. I was blessed to have known him.

I send condolences to Claire and her lovely family. Bill was such a good man-always kind to me when I visited both he and Claire in Acton and on the Cape. I always enjoyed his company-we had great conversations. I shall certainly miss him, and will offer prayers for him.
May He Rest in Peace

Dear Claire and Family,
I was so sorry to read Bill's death notice in the Boston Globe today. It's been a long time since we have seen each other. You both had a wonderful life together and raising a truly successful family. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
I will offer my Mass for him on Sunday. I know this is a difficult time for you.
I remember our days at Boston College School of Nursing. My thought and prayers are with you. Love Betty Sweeney Minassian
