Clara A. Gannon's Obituary
Clara A. Gannon, age 81 of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Reston Hospital Center, in Reston, VA, following a long battle with heart and lung disease. She was born on Monday, July 6, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of the late Harry and Josephine Miller.
Mrs. Gannon attended the Little Flower School for Girls in Philadelphia and later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from George Mason University. From there, she built a career as an information technology analyst for the Departments of Commerce and Defense in Washington, DC. She married the love of her life, John Gannon, on May 5, 1962 at Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany. Mrs. Gannon became a military spouse, accompanying her husband on military assignments and later, civilian assignments. She enjoyed playing bridge, was an avid reader, and was always up on the latest technology. Mrs. Gannon also loved to travel and was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Above all, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose loving and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Gannon is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, John A. Gannon of Rehoboth Beach, DE; her sons: Patrick and Marty (Kathleen); her daughter, Elizabeth (Luis); her 5 grandchildren (Jenna, Tausha, Aidan, Isabel and Julia); her sister, Mary Geisler (Bob); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 2, 2018, at 11:00 AM, at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church: 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington D.C.
