Cindy S. Layer-Gromofsky's Obituary
On Thursday, April 09, 2020, Cindy S. Layer-Gromofsky passed on to her eternal resting place, at home surrounded by her family. Cindy was a two-time survivor of breast cancer and courageously fought metastatic breast cancer for over two years.
Cindy, 55, was born on July 19, 1964 in Troy, OH, daughter of Bonita (Edwards) and Larry Layer. She received her degree from Sinclair community college and worked for Innomark Communications in Ohio for over 20 years. On a shared birthday of July 19th, she married Alan Gromofsky in 1999. They have one son, Marcus A. Gromofsky, who was the light of her life.
Those who knew Cindy know she had an amazing faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and had several passions. Her first was the love of her husband and son, the second was a lifelong love of music. Cindy was an accomplished singer and many times accompanied herself on the piano. She performed with the Armonk and Brewster, NY theater groups, Praise and Worship band at St. Lawrence O’Toole church, and most recently sang with the Miracle Singers at Bethel United Methodist Church in Lewes, DE. Cindy also loved design, decorating, and the beach. The family moved to Delaware two years ago, and Cindy took great pleasure in designing the renovations and furnishings of their new home.
Cindy was preceded in death by her mother, Bonita. She is remembered by her husband, Alan; their son Marcus; her father, Larry; her brother Tony; her mother-in-law, Emma-Lou Gromofsky; her brother-in-law Mark Gromofsky (Debbie); her niece Lizzie; her nephews Gavin and Bryce; and her numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church, Lewes, DE at a future date to be determined.
The family welcomes donations in Cindy’s memory, in lieu of flowers to Delaware Bethel United Methodist Church, Attn: Music Ministry, 129 W. 4th Street, Lewes, DE 19958 or to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
