Hello Royce, I don't know if you remember me, I met with you and Chris at a restaurant, I think in Annandale, to talk. I left the FDIC in early 2017. I just wanted to tell you I just learned of Chris's passing and how sorry I was to read about it. She was one of the nicest people I came to know in this life and our many talks helped me a lot to better appreciate what to do and say in my, what a friend called my second calling. I abruptly left the FDIC because of a severe back problem, I was having massive back spasms, plus added in all of that my FIL had died months before, and my MIL needed her boys there, out of state, to help her pack to move to live with family up here. It was easier for me to just retire and go with them instead of hub worrying about me at home alone.
I would have liked to been able visit the friends I made to say goodbye and that included the rare nice supervisor or just to offer contact info if they wanted it. Chris was a very caring person that was clear. She would always ask how I was doing!! I would always laugh. She loved you all and would tell me how lucky she was to have her family nearby. My extended family is in NJ and NY and so I could relate to her enthusiasm.

Chris has been my friend since kindergarten and our lives continued to intersect through IHA, Montclair, and Washington DC - where we both ended up for a period of time; we had so much fun. She had a crush on a guy named Royce and dragged me out to the bar to check him out - the rest is history topped off with Katie entering her life and giving her so much joy.
I loved that I could call Chris and immediately we were in a conversation as if we just spoke yesterday sharing books we had just read, family and friend updates, memories and so much more. I loved her insight, humor, her recollection of crazy or mundane details (she had a great memory) and her compassion.
Chris was a special friend, and I will miss her.
My condolences and prayers go out to Royce and Katie. I started working with Chris in 2011. She was a supportive colleague and a friend. When she did, she loved talking about Royce and Katie and her Checkas (German Shepherds). We will miss her.

We will miss Chris. Chris and I started at the FDIC (my second tour, her first) in 2004. Both of us would be taking on our roles in security, she heading up the creation of what would become the ATO process at the FDIC, me heading to work on technical security controls. Chris would eventually work for me when I had the opportunity to lead the Security Policy & Compliance group, and we maintained our friendship when organizational change put us in different organizations. Chris was always committed to her job, establishing the ATO process, then overseeing the contractors who did the independent testing, and finally overseeing the SIA process. She loved her family, Royce and Katherine (Kate), and was a lifelong dog owner having had several German Shepherds during the course of her life. I will miss our conversations and her sense of humor. My prayers for Royce, Kate, and the rest of Chris' family during this sad time.
