Christel Palekar's Obituary
Christel Louise Palekar, age 17 of Milton, Del., died peacefully Monday, February 13, 2006. Cristel was born on Nov. 13, 1988 in Philadelphia, PA. She is survived by her parents April and Bhaskar Palekar; her caretakers and second parents Mary and Dean Taylor; a sister Kelly C. Palekar, a brother Thomas B. Palekar, and a niece Hailey Sidibe. Also surviving are Aunt Nina Palekar of NJ; Aunt Christel & Uncle Frank Hiney of NH; Uncle Charles & Caren Day of PA; and Uncle Jeff of PA; and 18 cousins: Wendy, Tammy, Brian, Christen, Tina, Jenny, Brenda, Charles, Nandu, Nilima, Udatta, Anjali, Rohan, Rohit, Rachael, Nathan, Patrick, and Alexandra.
Christel was a student at Howard T. Ennis School. She was well known for a smiling face and infectious laugh. Swimming, watching Barney and holding a balloon were her pleasures in life. She had an abundance of stuffed animals which were always close at hand. Christal participated in the Special Olympics and won three gold medals for bowling and two gold medals for Track & Field. She won best costume at the Rehoboth Seawitch Festival in both 1997 and 1999. She also loved to participate in the Easter Seals Cruise for Kids. Christel attended the Lewes Church of Christ.
A private service in celebration of Christel's life will be held at the Lewes Church of Christ, 14904 Coastal Highway, Milton, DE on February 16th, 2006 at 7:00 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Christel's name may be made to the Howard T. Ennis School, 20346 Ennis Road, Georgetown, DE 19947.
