I first stayed at the McDaniels' home as a graduate student on weekends in the summer of 1967 and except for 1968, when I was overseas all summer, I continued to stay there until the summer of 1971. That year I got married and about that time Mac McDaniel built two small cottages behind their home and my wife and I stayed there summer weekends until Memorial Day 1976. By that time, we had two babies and the cottage was getting too small, so we bought a cottage of our own and moved in over the July 4 holiday. As the children were growing, we engaged Brenda McDaniel as a baby sitter and once there was no longer a need for that, we made it a point of visit Charlotte at her home once a summer on a courtesy call. We will miss her. Fred Radewagen
