Charlotte E. Martin's Obituary
Charlotte E. Martin, age 86 of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2017 in Milford, DE. She was born in Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late Charles and Sarah (Mahon) Halfen.
Mrs. Martin began a career at Equitable Life Insurance Company where she met the great love of her life, Ned Martin. She was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where she served in the Elizabeth Circle and Bible Club. She dedicated time volunteering in the local community. Mrs. Martin loved politics and was a member of the Democratic Party. She loved to travel and did so extensively, journeying all over the world. She enjoyed spending her spare time gardening, reading, playing bridge and spending time on the beach. Her most cherished times, however, were those spent with her family and her poodles, who brought her so much joy. She was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, and she will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ned, in February of 2011. She is survived by her son, Brooks Martin and his wife Sally, of Norton, MA; her niece, Sandi Hanley and her husband Jim, of Wilmington, DE; her nephew, David Chesler and his wife Laurie, of Wilmington, DE; her grandchildren: Tyler, Mitchell, and Derek; her grand-niece, Sarah; and her grand-nephew, Andrew.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 West 4th Street, Lewes, DE. All arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mrs. Martin's memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, or to Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 W. 4th Street, Lewes, DE 19958.
