Charles Nathaniel Valenti's Obituary
Charles Nathaniel Valenti , 92, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, died on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at, his residence. Charles was born September 8, 1918 in Baltimore, MD, son of the late Vincent and Anna (Mandella) Valenti.
He graduated from Baltimore City College in 1936. At the age of 23, during WW II, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp as a private. He later completed Air Corp Technical School and served as an Officer during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1954 as a 1st Lieutenant and rejoined civilian life. He remained active in the reserves until he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in September 1978. During his military career, he met and married his one true love, Julia Mariany. At the time of his passing, they had been married 62 years. They both attended the Maryland Institute of Art and graduated with high honors. He later worked for Westinghouse as a defense contractor. While raising their four children, Vincent Valenti, Chris Valenti, Anne Valenti-Storck and Mary Valenti-Bloom, Charles and Julia retired to Rehoboth Beach, DE where they lived at the time of his passing. Charles was a member of St. Edmond's Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach.
He is survived by his wife Julia; his four children; five grandchildren; and his sister, Angela Bands.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 18, 2011, at 1:00 PM, at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, 5200 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, MD. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 12:30 PM. Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 4430 Belair Road, Baltimore.
