Linda and I met Charlie at a Christmas party in 1975 when we both left Con Edison and accepted offers to join the start-up team at the New York Power Authority’s new power plant in Astoria, Queens. Our friendship continued beyond work, and we spent many New Year’s Eves together, along with many beach days, weekend stayovers, a number of concerts, many meals, and many, many, many games of Pong and Space Invaders.
We spent over a year in Pittsburgh becoming knowledgeable in the nascent field of power plant computer control technology. The cold winter evenings were spent at the pinball machines and Charlie was the reigning Pinball Wizard of Blawnox, Pennsylvania.
We worked together for a few years and then collaborated on several projects when we changed jobs. Charlie was an expert in his field, always willing to help, and almost always successful in convincing others to accept his approach or solution.
Charlie and Lynn were an integral part of the planning for our daughter’s wedding in Connecticut, and we have enjoyed visiting and reminiscing on our trips to Delaware.
Thank you for the wonderful memories.
