Charles W. Thompson's Obituary
Charles W. Thompson, age 71, of Georgetown, DE passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018, in the company of his family. He was born on October 6, 1947 in Urbana, IL, son of the late Ralph P. and Allison B. Thompson.
Mr. Thompson graduated from Georgetown High School in 1965. He then honorably served in the United States Navy. He graduated from Tomlinson College in Cleveland, TN with an Associate’s Degree in missionology, then went to Moody Bible Institute where he studied mission aviation in Elizabethton, TN.
Mr. Thompson enjoyed a lifelong career as a mechanic working for various organizations including, Pats Aircraft, Georgetown Airport and Mobile AC of Delaware. He was a member of Crossroads Community Church and worked as a missionary with his wife in St. Vincent for several years and then later on, in Africa for several years. In his spare time, Mr. Thompson enjoyed camping, travel, all things related to aviation, church help ministries and working on projects in his garage. Most of all he valued the time he spent with his family, especially his grandkids who were the apples of his eyes.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Thompson is preceded in death by his brother, James E. Thompson. He is survived by his favorite family members, his loving wife of 36 years, Judith E. Thompson, of Georgetown, DE; his son, Christopher Thompson and his wife Esther of Newark, DE; his daughter, Anne Rowe and her husband Peter of Delmar, DE; his two grandchildren: Allison Thompson and Sophia Rowe, and a third one on the way; his brother, William Thompson and his wife Emily of Mechanicsburgs, PA; and his sister, Kathleen Gregory and her husband Randy of Ridgeway, CO.
A Memorial Service will be held on January 5, 2018, visiting hours at 10:00 and service at 11:00 AM at Crossroads Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown, DE 19947.
