Charles S. Rynkowski, Sr.

Charles (Caz) S. Rynkowski, Sr., age 95, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2021, surrounded by his family. Caz was born in Wilmington, DE son of the late Charles and Stella (Gajewska) Rynkowski on December 16, 1925 and was the oldest of five children.
Caz graduated from Wilmington High School and served in the Army Air Forces. He met and married the love of his life, Mary Ann Scully, and raised their four children in Manor Park. Caz worked at Chrysler Corporation Newark Plant until his retirement and soon after, he and his wife moved to Rehoboth Beach where they spent their remaining years. He and his wife were members of Our Lady of Fatima and St. Edmonds Parishes.
During his life, Caz was a member and past Post Commander of American Legion Stahl Post #30. He volunteered his time and took great pride in helping to maintain the Stahl baseball field. Caz also bartended at Stahl Post and Defiance. He was an avid sports fan and was a University of Delaware Football season ticket holder for many years. Caz closely followed Elena DelleDonne’s career and especially enjoyed watching the Phillies, Yankees, and Dallas Cowboys. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family and “holding court” in his garage with his neighbors. Caz was extremely well liked with his easy-going attitude, great sense of humor and infectious smile. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, Caz was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Ann; his son Robert; his sister Sylvia Candelora; and his brothers Fred and Henry Rynkowski. He is survived by his sons: Charles Jr. (Karen) and Richard (Barbara); his brother, Robert Rynkowski; his grandchildren: Charles III (Gail), Rob Rynkowski (Tammy), Beth Rynkowski; and his great grandchildren: Logan, Corey, Robert, Jonathan, Lilyana, Matthew, Paul and Christian.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021, at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel , 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE where friends may visit beginning with 10:00 AM.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic social distancing protocols must be observed and masks must be worn by everyone participating in any aspect of the service
The family expresses a special thanks to the staff at Beebe Hospital and the VA Medical Center for their compassionate care.
