Charles Francis Redington Jr.'s Obituary
Charles F. Redington Jr. passed away peacefully on September 21, 2022, at his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. He was 93 years of age. He was born on June 18, 1929, in Pittston, PA, son of the late Charles and Annette Redington.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his son, Gregory; and his sister, Dolores. He was a loving husband to Muriel with whom he recently celebrated 70 years of marriage; and is also survived by his children: Rebecca, Charles III, and Mark. He was a very special Pop-Pop to six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was also an uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Charles proudly served 20 honorable and memorable years in the United States Air Force. He then worked for the Social Security Administration before finally retiring. Charles enjoyed life and shared many great passions. His greatest joy was traveling to his wife’s homeland, England. During his military service, he was stationed throughout many different countries. Charles immersed himself in the cultures of these different places and shared his love of these experiences with his family. He was remarkable in the kitchen; often making many amazing meals from scratch. He loved gardening and would always ensure his gardens were exquisitely maintained with a beautiful array of plants and flowers. His other enjoyments were reading, photography, swimming, woodworking, and running. He truly had a love for life.
Charles will be remembered with honor and respect. Because of his dedication and service to our country, Charles’ final resting place will be at Arlington National Cemetery. “God Bless You,” our special husband, Dad, and Pop-Pop. We will miss you dearly. Your honesty, hard work, support, and constant love will be a reminder for us to always strive to be better.
A memorial service will be planned for a future date.
