Charles D. Parker III's Obituary
Charles D. Parker, III, 59, of Milton, DE went home to be with the Lord on October 7, 2009. He was born in Clearfield, PA, son of the late Charles D. Parker II and Marjorie A. Parker of Lewes, DE.
Mr. Parker was a GS-11 Soil Scientist with the Soil Conservation Service of the USDA in Bedford, Marion, and Bluefield, VA, and the Natural Resources and Conservation Service in Georgetown, DE, retiring in 1999. He graduated from Lewes High School in 1968 and earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Agriculture from the University of Delaware in 1977. During his summer breaks, he served as a lifeguard at DE Seashore State Park. He was also a Life Scout with Boy Scout Troop 1, Lewes, a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, and a guitar player with the church group Miracle Singers. He loved the Lewes-Milton area, its people, the beaches, and most of all his family. His hobbies were his guitars, music, swimming, bodysurfing, fishing, Native American lore, collecting Indian arrowheads, rockology, good movies, and computers.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his sister, Darlene L. Greene formerly of Newark, DE. He is survived by his children: Charles D. Parker, IV of Atlanta, GA, Melissa Anne Parker of Georgetown, DE, and Nathan T. Parker of Columbus, OH; his mother Marjorie; his brother and sister-in-law Gary V. Parker, Sr. and Debbie L. Parker; and two grandchildren: Katie Jane Parker of Apex, NC, and Chance Joseph Parker of Georgetown, DE.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, October 12, 2009, 6:30 PM at Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 W. Fourth Street, Lewes. There will be no calling hours and interment is private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for Bethel United Methodist Church or for Boy Scout Troop #1 in care of Bethel United Methodist Church.
