Charles "Chuck" T. O'Brien Jr.'s Obituary
Charles "Chuck" T. O’Brien, Jr., age 61, passed away on November 8, 2020 following a brief, but courageous battle with melanoma. He was surrounded with the loving embrace of his family.
Chuck was born on October 22, 1959 to Anne (Nancy) and the late Charles T. O’Brien, Sr. Chuck was raised with his three siblings in North Wildwood, NJ, where he was a proud graduate of Wildwood High School. Always striving to live the American Dream and better the standing of his family, Chuck continued his education, receiving an MBA from Wilmington College. Chuck was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award from Delaware Technical Community College for Data Processing Technology in 2009. He was a tremendously hard worker, but his lofty academic and work achievements were second to his truly most important accomplishments: being an exceptional husband, son, father, grandpop, brother, uncle, and friend that anyone could have.
Chuck loved his life, his friends, and most of all, his family. He spent decades coaching soccer, softball, basketball, and serving as a Boy Scout troop leader in Seaford, DE. He did anything and everything to be close to his children from the day they were born to the day he died. He was a hero to them and a positive influence on countless others.
Chuck loved the beach, a cold beer in hand, Bruce Springsteen playing in the background, and his grandkids pulling at his hand begging him to pick them up. He always did. Chuck’s compassion and kindness for all was reciprocated with great love from his family and friends. He will be missed beyond words and his memory will live on forever.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Danette; his children of whom he was so proud: Chip (Jen), Dan (Jaime), and Kasey; his adopted Brazilian son, Bruno; his beloved grandkids: Owen, Finnigan, Olive, Cooper, and future baby O’Brien; his siblings: Ann, Susan, and Paul (Niki); and a host of other family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020 from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, at the Rehoboth Beach Country Club, 221 West Side Drive, Rehoboth Beach, DE. All family and friends are welcome (casual beach attire recommended).
