Charles A. Carrere's Obituary
Charles A. Carrere, age 88, of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Friday, October 12, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Karns City, PA, on January 11, 1924, son of the late Joseph B. and Marianne (Molino) Carrere.
Mr. Carrere was a resident of Lewes for the past 23 years, coming from Wilmington, DE. He was a Corporal in the U. S. Air Force from January 1943 to December 1945, serving with the 544th AAF Base Unit as a radio operator and mechanic. He later worked for the DuPont Corporation in Wilmington, DE as a Research Technologist.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lewes, American Legion Post #28, Oak Orchard, and enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joan (Ellis) Carrere; one son, Steve Carrere and his wife Dyane of Reading, PA; one daughter, Linda Schorah and her husband Mark of Placida, FL; five granddaughters: Stefanie Yoder and her husband Dustin, Greenwood, DE, Marissa Oparowski and her husband Steve of Easthampton, MA, Emily Carrere of Malvern, PA , Tara Schorah of Placida, FL and Angela Schorah of Wilmington, DE; two grandsons: Chris Davis and his wife Dorina, Harbeson, DE and David Schorah of Wilmington, DE; one great-grandson, Oliver Oparowski of Easthampton, MA; three sisters: Lena Adkins of Logan, WV, Aileen Sauscermen of Newark, DE and Virginia Beavers of Sidney, OH; and two brothers: Earnie Carrere of Newark, DE and William Carrere of McConnell, WV.
Funeral Services, with his Pastor David Munro officiating, will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012, at 8:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening beginning at 6:00 P.M. Interment will be on Friday, October 19, 2:00 P.M., at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.
The family suggests Memorial Contributions be made to the Tunnell Cancer Center, "Gene & Joan Fund" 902 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958 or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
