Charles Henry Butler's Obituary
Charles Henry Butler, Jr., of Greenwood, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 12, 2015, his 93rd birthday, at the Country Rest Home. He was born on November 12, 1922 in Burrsville, MD near Denton on the family farm where he was raised with a loving, close knit family. Charles was the son of the late Charles H. and Mary E. (Breeding) Butler.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his loving wife of 33 years, Madeline Short Butler in November of 1980. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Arnold Butler, Paul Butler, Woodrow Butler and three sisters, Mildred Sharp, Marjorie Adams and Doris Blades.
Mr. Butler is survived by his son, Charles Dale Butler, his daughter, Darlene Butler Beauchamp and her husband Donald; two grandchildren, Brian Butler and his wife Melissa; Morgan Scott and her husband Eric; six great-grandchildren, Hayley, Austin, Logan, Alana, Kendall and Delaney; one brother, Frank Butler of Lumberton, TX and two sisters, Ruthanna Crouch of LeRoy, IL and Eloise Luff of Greenwood, DE.
Mr. Butler was a 1939 graduate of North Caroline High School. Following graduation he embarked on a life long career with the DuPont Company in Seaford, DE, where he retired in January of 1982.
In retirement, Mr. Butler enjoyed caring for his garden, watching his favorite game shows, sports and solving game puzzles. He will be remembered as a loving and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
The family expresses their gratitude to the Country Rest Home in Greenwood, DE and their staff for caring for him during the last few years of his life.
Graveside services will be Monday November 16 at 11 a.m., at the Bloomery Cemetery.
