Charles G. Ballard's Obituary
Charles “Bud” G. Ballard Jr. of Lewes, DE, formerly of Cape May, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Renaissance Healthcare, Millsboro, DE. He was born on Saturday, November 03, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Charles G. Sr. and Ella Doris (Wigand) Ballard.
Mr. Ballard enjoyed a lifelong career dedicated to the Tasty Baking Company, Philadelphia, PA, retiring in 1990 as Superintendant of Baking. He was an active member of the Midway Lions Club in Rehoboth Beach, DE. He enjoyed woodworking of all sorts and taking care of his vegetable garden and beautiful flowers. Most of all, Mr. Ballard loved putting his 2 great- grandchildren Emily and Kaitlyn on the school bus; they were the apples of his eyes. Mr. Ballard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who will be missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Ballard is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley J. (Smith) Ballard; his son, Jefferey Ballard of Willow Grove, PA; his daughter, Nancy Donlon and her husband Dennis of Philadelphia, PA; 3 grandchildren: Shawn Musgrove and her husband Bill of Lewes, DE, Ryan Donlon of Alexandria, VA, and Christopher Ballard of Bethleham, PA; and two great-grandchildren: Emily and Kaitlyn Musgrove.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Midway Lions Club, P.O. Box 406, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
