Cecilia M. Hudson's Obituary
Cecilia "Celi" M. Hudson, age 93 of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away peacefully at home, on Monday, August 15, 2016. She was born July 8, 1923 in Lewes, DE, the daughter of Theodore W. Polite and Gertrude M (Wells) Polite.
Celi's love of children was evident by her 30 years of fostering children through the Delaware state foster parent program. She was an active participant in Shields Elementary School's HOSTS program, and a faithful member of Lewes Presbyterian Church. Celi enjoyed reading, horseback riding, crocheting, cooking, and watching Westerns. Her most cherised times, however, were spent with her loving family. Celi was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Celi was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James "Ken" Hudson; her brothers: Andrew Polite, Edgar Polite and Junior Polite; and her sister, Margaret Newcomb.
She is survived by her sons, James "Kenny" Hudson and his wife, Ellen, and Joseph "Ronnie" May, all of Rehoboth Beach; her daughter, Sandi Purdy, of Lewes; her sister, Alberta Cowan; her grandsons, Tyler and Corbin Hudson, of Lewes; her granddaughters: Alicia and Amanda Purdy, of Lewes; Karen Bailey and her husband Cecil, of Dover; and Heather Purdy, of Rehoboth Beach; her great-grandsons: Austin Bailey, of Dover; Teddy Hudson, of Lewes; Luke Riley, of Lewes; and Stanley Purdy, of Rehoboth Beach; her great-granddaughters: Katelyn, Samatha, and Remi Bailey, all of Dover; and Alyssa Newcomber, of Rehoboth Beach; her great-great-grandsons, Carter and L.J. Bailey; and multiple nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at 3:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where a second visitation will begin at 2:00 PM.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE.
Burial will follow the services at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Savannah Road, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Celi's name to the hospice or charity of your choice.
