Catherine M. Sweigert's Obituary
Catherine Miriam (Small) Sweigert, age 93, of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. Mrs. Sweigert was born September 11, 1914 in York, PA, daughter of the late Edward and Gilberta (Allen) Small.
Mrs Sweigert lived in Philadelphia and Wallingford, PA before her move to Delaware in 1996. She was employed by General Electric in PA for 33 years retiring in1978 as an inventory control specialist. While still employed, she served as the Women's Director of the Quarter Century Club at GE and secretary of the Southeastern PA Women's Bowling League. Mrs. Sweigert was a member of the Sussex Family YMCA, an avid reader and arts and crafts enthusiast. She was also a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Quentin "Swag" Sweigert ( 1961 ). She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Sweigert of Bucks County PA; her son, Lawrence (Larry) Sweigert of Lewes; and her sister, Margaret Irwin of York, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by James E. Downs, MSA, on Friday, January 25, 2008, 11 AM at St. Jude The Apostle Church, DE Route 1 north of Five Points, Lewes. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to Mass. Interment will be private at Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
Please omit flowers. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sussex Family YMCA, 105 Church Street. Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
