Catherine V. Robinson's Obituary
Catherine V. Robinson, 86, of Symrna, passed away November 1, 2009 in Dover, after a long illness. Born in Wilmington, Catherine was the daughter of the late Spiro Fakis and Katherine Canias Fakis.
Following her mother's death, Catherine moved to Philadelphia, where she was raised by her mother's brother, Nick Canias and his wife Helen. She was a 1942 graduate of West Philadelphia High School. In 1947, Catherine married Frank H. Robinson of Chesapeake City. They made their home in Chesapeake City, where they raised their sons Frank H. Robinson, Jr., John E. Robinson and David V. Robinson. While she raised her family and tended the family farm, Catherine was active in the school system, serving as president of the PTA. She also was a school bus driver, secretary for an Elkton business and a seamstress. Catherine and Frank lived in Newark, Delaware until his retirement, when they moved to their beach house in Millville, Delaware in the early 1980s. Retirement offered her the opportunity to cultivate her love of the beach, painting, ceramics, sewing, gardening, fishing, travel and baking. She was a lifelong Jehovah's Witness, a faith that sustained her through the many joys and trials of her life. Catherine's home was always open to family and friends and her greatest joy was cooking for the people whom she loved.
Catherine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank H. Robinson, who died in 2001, her uncle Nick Canias, her aunt Helen Canias, and her brothers, Manuel Fakis, Louis Fakis and James Fakis.
She is survived by her son Frank H. Robinson, Jr. and his wife Bernadette J. Robinson of Clayton, Delaware; her son John E. Robinson and his wife Linda Mastro of Neavitt, Maryland; and her son David V. Robinson and his wife Jodean Robinson of Bear, Delaware.
