Catherine R. Kulpinski's Obituary
Catherine Rocca Kulpinski, age 80, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2022, at her home in Dagsboro, DE, after a three-year battle with cancer. She was born in Elizabeth, NJ, on May 14, 1941, daughter of Julius P. Rocca and Catherine (Vergura) Rocca.
She grew up in Linden, NJ, and graduated from Linden High School in 1959. She graduated from Douglass College in 1963 with a B.A. in Spanish and a teaching certificate, and later earned a master’s degree in Education from the University of Maryland.
After marrying Stanley Kulpinski in June 1963, she taught Spanish in Oakland, CA and Pennsauken Township, NJ, before spending most of her career teaching at Wootton High School in Rockville, MD.
She and Stanley moved from Silver Spring, MD to Dagsboro, DE in 2005. She volunteered to teach English to the Speakers of Other Languages in Sussex County, DE for 4 years.
Mrs. Kulpinski enjoyed playing mahjong and bridge and earned 100 master bridge points. She also loved art, reading, Broadway theater, traveling, gardening, the Baltimore Orioles, and her family - especially being a doting nonna to her two granddaughters. She had a big heart, warm smile, and infectious laugh.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Stanley Kulpinski of Dagsboro, DE;her daughter, Jill of Millville, DE; her 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Daniel and Karen Kulpinski of Derwood, MD and Paul Kulpinski and Rebecca Donnelly of Baltimore, MD; and by her granddaughters Cecilia and Sage; her sister, Mary Ann Abella of Roselle, NJ; and her brother, Joseph Rocca of Albuquerque, NM.
A memorial service will be scheduled in the spring of 2022.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions in Mrs. Kulpinski's memory to the Tunnell Cancer Center, 18947 John J. Williams Hwy Suite 101, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
Final care of Mrs. Kulpinski has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Clarksville Chapel, Ocean View, DE.
