My cousin Kay was a wonderful person. She always preceded me in travels and we enjoyed talking on the phone about our trips. She was a favorite of my Mother's ( Louise Albright Wade) and I remember her visiting us in Macon, Georgia when I was a child and watching the Miss America Pageant on TV.
My condolences to the her children and grandchildren. She sent me updated pictures of you all each year at Christmas. She was a loving Mother.
Kay was a woman of diverse and disparate interests - tennis, mah jong (sp?) opera and related courses at OSHER's Life Long Institute, the arts (loyal patron of the Mid-Atlantic Symphony, Clear Space Theater and one of the earliest members of the Rehoboth Film Festival), travel - one or two major overseas adventures each year, exotic food - especially Chinese, reading - never forgetting anything she ever read, love of cats - overall a woman with a zest for life and love of family. She never met a challenge she felt she could not overcome. That is how she spent her last days. A woman truly to be admired. Kay Ryan
I remember Kay as a fellow tennis player in Bethany Bay. She played as she lived, at 100 per cent effort and focus . Later on, as her health declined, I admired her fortitude in a long struggle to be active again. We shared our love for our cats, exotic travel and the beautiful outdoors at the shore. My acquaintance with Kay began as classmates at Osher Lifelong Learning and developed into a bosom buddy friendship. She was witty, tenacious, generous and loving. In the last few years, Kay endured health challenges with little complaint and great fortitude. Our last conversation was that Kay had registered for fall classes at Osher and we began comparing our selected courses. We found that we both had chosen Opera, American Authors and From Beethoven to Gershwin. I shall miss Kay and my husband Bernie and I will always hold our friendship dear.

Kay was a vibrant, fun and beautiful person. She was our neighbor for almost 20 years and just "lived life to it's fullest". She always remembered to bring back a little trinket whenever she went on one of her many trips. I have each and every one & think of her whenever I look at them. I knew Kay primarily as a friend and co-member of the Reel Book Club, founded to celebrate both quality films and outstanding books. She was smart, good company, and strong in her knowledge of a multitude of topics. Her passions for travel, film-making, literature, and animal care ran deep, and she devoted countless hours of time and energy in those areas. Her struggles against poor health amazed us over the last several years -- she always was the "comeback kid" until this final time. I will miss her strength and wit, and am glad her family were nearby as she made her final journey. Her legacy will long be remembered in the Lewes-Rehoboth community. You have many memories of your own to share among yourselves and with others who knew her. Blessings to all of you.

It is with great sadness that I learned of Kay's death. She was a valued member of our book club and I will very much miss her insights and humor. She always added an interesting perspective to our discussions. I so admired her interest in in so many things -- books, films, opera, traveling, etc. -- as well as the strength and courage with which she dealt with the various medial and health problems of recent years. I will remember her with great affection.
Kay will be missed 'on campus' and in our classes at Osher Life-long Learning...her fine mind and insightful comments on a series of American Authors & films always enriched our understanding and provoked deeper thought and appreciation...plus, she was a special and warm-hearted friend to so many fellow class-members and our community.
