Catherine Virginia Cooper's Obituary
Catherine Rollins Cooper , age 92, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at, Beebe Medical Center. She was born in Leesburg, VA, on Thursday, February 21, 1918, daughter of the late Troylous F. Johnson and Carrie V. (Lee) Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Sanford Rollins in 1989, two sons, Robert Rollins and Roy Rollins, Sr., two grandsons, Billy and John Rollins, two sisters, Ruby East and Irene Havener and one brother, Henry Johnson.
Catherine lived in Bradbury Heights, MD, for 50 years before moving to Rehoboth Beach in 1997. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lewes, and she loved going to church and being with God's people. She always planted a garden using the Hagerstown Almanac as her guide to plant vegetables. She enjoyed traveling and visits from her family and friends.
Her neverending love for her family and friends was evident throughout her life. She took care of many children through the years, at one time having six children in addition to her own three. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the special joy of her life. She will be missed, but we know that she is in heaven with our Lord.
Catherine is survived by her husband of 13 years, Lindsay Howard Cooper of Rehoboth Beach, one son, James A. Rollins and Norma of Accokeek, MD; one stepson, Robert Cooper and Janet of Milton, DE; daughter-in-law, Loretta Rollins of Lewes, DE; grandchildren Richard Rollins, Michael Rollins of GA, Robert, Joe, Carolyn, Laurie and David Rollins of DE, Roy Rollins, Jr.of PA, and Karen Rollins of FL; many great grandchildren, Steven, Sydney, Troy, Michael, Shane, Christina, Daniel, and Alishia and others; one brother, Alfred "Buddy" Johnson of Aldie, VA; two sisters, Louise Hewett of Fairfax, VA, and Norma Grimes of Woodstock, VA, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 04, 2010, at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, with her pastor, Reverend David Munro officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services at 10:00 AM.
Burial will follow the Services at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE.
