Carolyn Lee Tucker's Obituary
Carolyn Lee Tucker, age 67, of Bridgeville, DE passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Bay Health Medical Center, Milford, DE. She was born in Townsend, DE on January 30, 1945, daughter of the late Colen and Margaret (Blanchfield) Waters,
Mrs. Tucker was a 1963 graduate of Middletown High School. She dedicated her life to serving the community, working first for the Georgetown Community Action Agency in Georgetown, DE and retiring in 2005 from the State of Delaware, Child Protective Services at the Shipley Center in Seaford, DE. Mrs. Tucker fought a courageous 22 year long battle against breast and lung cancer. She loved the beach, candles, solitaire, mahjong, and classic movies, especially King Kong. She was a happy and outgoing person and brightened every ones day, A true matriarch of the family, Mrs. Tucker was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be dearly missed, but her stories that always made your stomach hurt from laughing will live on forever.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years Ray E. Tucker (July 2012), and her infant sister Patricia Waters. She is survived by her daughters: Diana Young and husband Scott and Patricia Bennett and fiancé Stacy Carter, all of Bridgeville; seven grandchildren: Bethany Young, Rayelle Young, Ashlynne Bennett, Brooke Bennett, MaKayla Bennett, Lauren Carter and Grant Carter; three brothers: Colen Waters and wife Joan of Clayton, DE, Paul Waters and wife Devona of Townsend, DE, and Jim Waters and wife Mary of Daytona Beach, FL; three sisters: Jeanette Bailey and husband Jim, Marie Foraker and husband Vernon, all of Townsend, DE, and Tammy Waters of Hartly, DE; Robin Ryan, who was like a daughter, and her husband Kris of Harrington, DE; Robin’s children: Kristen Short and husband Matt, and their daughter Emma of Bridgeville, Soni Ryan and Jack Ryan both of Harrington.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE, where friends may call beginning at 10:00AM. Friends may also call at the funeral home on Thursday December 6, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Interment will be at St. Johnstown Cemetery, St. Johnstown Road in Greenwood, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803.
