Carolyn T. Ramsey's Obituary
Carolyn T. Ramsey, 78, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, DE. She was born in Hazelton, PA, on November 8, 1932, daughter of the late William D. and Florence (Kraph) Trevorrow.
Mrs. Ramsey graduated from Tamaqua High School, PA Class of 1950 and in 1953 she graduated from Methodist Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelpia. Mrs. Ramsey was a Registered Nurse who worked in the Nursery at Kennedy Memorial Hospital, Stratford, NJ retiring in 1999. After retirement, she moved from Ocean City, NJ to Delaware.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Rehoboth Beach and she played the piano for the children’s choir at United Methodist Church in Stratford, NJ. She was a very loving mother and grandmother who shared her love of the beach and animals and her knowledge of arts and crafts, gardening and crossword puzzles with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her baby son Shorten (March 22, 1957) and her son-in-law Richard A. LeConey Jr.. Mrs. Ramsey is survived by her husband, David R. Ramsey, Sr., of Rehoboth Beach; her son David W. Shorten and wife Jennifer of Mays Landing, NJ; two daughters: Brenda Leigh LeConey of Gardner, NC and Sandra Shorten Caignon and husband Joseph of Newark, DE; twelve grandchildren: Desiree, Joshua, Gideon, Jacob, Justin, Alison, Todd, Jamie, Caleb, Hannah, Havalia and Haley; two great-grandchildren: Tyler and Ryan; and her sister Peg Trevorrow Martin and husband G. John of Spring Grove, PA.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 11:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 20276 Bay Vista Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lutheran Church of Our Savior at the address above, or to the Trevorrow Scholarship Fund, Tamaqua First United Methodist Church, 124 W. Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252.
