Carolyn Matilda Collins' Obituary
Carolyn M. Collins, 88, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Genesis Milford Center in Milford, DE surrounded by her loving family.
Carolyn was born and raised in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late John and Ethel Brent. She was a graduate of Eastern High School in Baltimore, MD. She married George Walker Collins III in 1950 and lived in Baltimore before moving to Jarrettsville, MD where she became an Assistant Bank Manager for Forest Hill State Bank. After retirement, Carolyn moved to the Rehoboth Beach area full time after maintaining a summer home there since 1984.
Carolyn enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards and bingo and solving word puzzles. She loved gardening and was especially fond of her Pomeranians. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed attending services. Carolyn was also a member of the Cheer Center in Lewes, DE.
In addition to her late parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, George Walker Collins III and a sister, Ethel Novak. She is survived by her only daughter and her husband, Suzanne and Brian Mazan of Rehoboth Beach, DE; her devoted godchild and her husband, Georgeann and Charles Hodges of Pasadena, MD; her brother James Brent of Ocean City, MD and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
The family would like to especially thank the wonderful staff at Genesis Milford Center, who cared for Carolyn.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971 or the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company, 3825 Federal Hill Road, Jarrettsville, MD 21084.
