Carol A. Shonts' Obituary
Carol A. Shonts, 74, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025. Born on December 25, 1950, in Lompoc, California, she was the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Teresa (née Ciaramella) Toomey.
Carol dedicated many years of her life working as a manager at a local used bookstore.
Carol is survived by her children, Dennis Ford Jr., John Fields, David Ford, and Dawn Potts (Charles Potts Sr.); her longtime partner, Gary B. Mitchell, her sister, Donna Cousineau (Jack); and her cherished grandchildren, Charles “CJ” Potts Jr., Ashley Potts, Ian McCarty, Lauren Ford, and Savannah Ford. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews, three great-nieces, and three great-nephews and many loving cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Monday December 1, 2025 at 10:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, in Lewes DE, where viewing will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment to immediately follow the funeral service at Henlopen Memorial Park.
