Carlton Burdick Starkweather's Obituary
Carlton Burdick Starkweather, age 87 of Lewes, DE, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Cadbury at Lewes. He was born Thursday, November 21, 1929 in New Bedford, MA, son of the late George and Edna (Burdick) Starkweather.
Mr. Starkweather lived in Secane, PA and retired to Galena, MD. His most recent residence was in Lewes. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1952-1954 during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Starkweather made his career as a Journeyman Electrician with Curtis Publishing Company and Smith Kline & Beecham. He was a Boy Scout leader and a member of the Lions Club and attended Olivet United Methodist Church in Galena, MD. Mr. Starkweather was also President of Upper Shore Aging and was instrumental in the concept and building of the Amy Lynn Ferris Adult Activities Center in Chestertown, MD. His most cherished memories and happiest times, however, were those made and spent with his dear family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be genuinely missed by all who were blessed to know him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Starkweather was preceded in death by his brother, George Starkweather and his sister, Betty Brinkworth. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara (Anderson) Starkweather; his son, David Allen Starkweather and his wife Debbie; his daughter, Linda Ann Shultz and her husband Todd; his 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who were the lights of his life.
Memorial Services will be held at 5:00 PM, on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Olivet United Methodist Church: 115 South Main Street; Galena, MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mr. Starkweather's memory to Olivet United Methodist Church, where their beloved faith commmunity ministers to so many and will actively use it to grow God's kingdom.
