Carl Fabian Hawkinson's Obituary
Carl Fabian Hawkinson, age 80 of Millsboro, DE passed away at home in his sleep on Saturday, June 15, 2024. He was born on August 17, 1943, in Wilmington, DE son of the late Arthur E. and Elsie (Ecklof) Hawkinson.
Mr. Hawkinson graduated from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. He then furthered his education obtaining his masters' degree from West Virginia University.
Mr. Hawkinson worked for many years in the rehabilitation counseling industry, retiring as a vocational case manager with LRC. He infused his work with insight and care, which was deeply valued by those who worked with him. A man of diverse interest, Mr. Hawkinson loved travelling and reading about history and politics, a testament to his love and desire to connect with the world beyond his doorstep. A nature lover, he was also a proud Eagle Scout. Mr. Hawkinson could often be found indoors watching college sports including his alma maters, Rutgers University and West Virginia University. An enthusiastic supporter of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, he relished sports and spending quality time with loved ones. Whether sharing stories of the past, attending baseball and football games, or simply enjoying the company of his loved ones, his presence was a source of warmth and wisdom. He will be deeply and genuinely missed by all the lives he touched.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hawkinson was predeceased by his brother John and his wife Gloria Jean Hawkinson. He is survived by his son, Richard Hawkinson; his stepsons, Fran and Dan Okoniewski (Dina); his grandchildren: Ella and Scarlett Hawkinson; his step grandchildren: Meghan, Jack, Emma, and Jake; his sisters, Anne, and Jane; and his brothers: Erik Hawkinson and Bruce Hawkinson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation in Mr. Hawkinson's memory to a charity of your choosing.
