Carl "Grif" Bennett Griffith's Obituary

Carl Bennett "Grif" Griffith, 74, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away at home surrounded by family on Thursday, June 20, 2019. Grif was born on October 1, 1944 in West Grove, PA, to the late Howard and Beatrice Griffith.
Grif was a graduate of Oxford High School and a proud US Navy Veteran, where he served as a flight engineer after completing C-121 and C-212 Ground School in 1969. Grif was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his honorable active service in the Navy and was a member of the Blue Angels, the US Navy's flight demonstration squadron. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 17 in Lewes, DE, as well as a Hurricane Hunters Alumnus and an active NRA member. Above all, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Grif was preceded in death by his brother, Bill. He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Clara C. of Rehoboth Beach, DE; his son, David Allen (Anne) of Greenville/Spartanburg, SC; his daughters: Jennifer Raye (Paul) of Bryant, AR, and Debra Lynn of Seminole, FL; his grandchildren: Jamie of Los Angeles, CA, Jason of Tampa, FL, Jordan of Bryant, AR, and Cody of Bryant, AR; his brother, Jerome (Elke) of Long Island, NY; his sister, Laura (Tom) of Rehoboth Beach, DE; and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Grif's memory to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101, or the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 75817, Topeka, KS 66675.
