Carl J. Caratozzolo's Obituary
Carl J. Caratozzolo, age 79 of Milton, DE, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022, at Accent Care Hospice Center, in Wilmington. He was born on November 27, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Joseph and Josephine Caratozzolo.
Carl grew up in Brooklyn, NY but spent most of his adult life in the Boston area. He and his partner Jerry ran successful businesses together, culminating in their beautiful fine gifts and confections boutique, “Sweet Thoughts,” in Melrose, Massachusetts. Carl, along with Jerry, was the ultimate host and enjoyed many years of entertaining friends and family. At their table great food, cocktails, and conversation flowed with love and humor. In 2016 they retired to Milton, Delaware to be closer to family. They made a home here and enjoyed their time among family and friends.
Carl always stood out for his adventurous nature, artistic style, and compassion for those around him. He loved cooking, the arts, fine dining, and travel, but most of all he loved his family. He enjoyed traveling to visit his family in Italy especially, fostering a close relationship with many cousins there throughout his lifetime.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his sisters and their husbands: Laura and Thomas Chariton Sr, and Elena and Charles Wisely. He is survived by his spouse of 14 years and partner of 54 years, Jerry Pulaski; his sister, Frances Caratozzolo; his nieces and nephews: Lisa Karasik (David), Valerie Jordan (Simon), Charles Wisely (Tara), Lauren Wisely-Wiggins (Brendan), Diana Sciarrino (Richard), and Thomas Chariton Jr. (Rita); as well as many grand nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 2:00 PM, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 200 2nd Street, Lewes, Delaware.
