Carl C. Bernard's Obituary
Carl C. Bernard, Jr. of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away on Monday, January 12, 2011 at Atlantic Shores Rehabilitation Center, Millsboro, DE. He was born April 29, 1936 in Elmira, NY, son of the late Carl C. Bernard, Sr. and Minerva (Leff) Bernard.
Mr. Bernard served with the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam war. He earned an Associate’s degree from the University of Colorado. He enjoyed a 33 year long career with the Bendix Company, Elmira Heights, NY specializing as a machinist, retiring in 1996. In 2005, he and his wife moved to Rehoboth Beach where he enjoyed gardening, sports, playing solitaire and spending time with his black Labrador, Tarra.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sharon Wasek Bernard of Rehoboth Beach; daughters: Michelle of Rehoboth Beach and Susan Bernard of White Plains, NY; sister, Deanna Reed of Charlotte, NC; and his dog, Tarra.
All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Box 430, Nassau, DE 19969.
