Calvin Timothy Rayne Jr., age 85, of Millsboro, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 9, 2018 at, Beebe Healthcare. He was born in Selbyville, DE, on October 22, 1933 of the late Calvin Timothy Rayne, Sr. and Hazel (Long) Rayne.
Following his service to our country in the US Army, Mr. Rayne worked for Mumford Sheet Metal in Selbyville and as a painting contractor. He also worked full time as a custodian for the Indian River School District, at the Selbyville Middle School, and Phillip C. Showell Elementary, where he retired as Chief Custodian after 22 years of service. He was a founding member of the Roxanna Volunteer Fire Department. During his earlier years, Mr. Rayne enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a long-time member of The River-A Wesleyan Church in Roxana, DE.
Mr. Rayne passed away on his 61st wedding anniversary with his wife Harriet Lewis Rayne and his family at the bedside. He is also survived by his son Denny D. Rayne and wife Lynne of Argos Corner; brother George Rayne and wife Erica of Selbyville, DE; sisters Jeannette Bunting of Coco Beach, Florida and Naomi Hudson of Selbyville, DE; and one grandson Stephen Rayne of Durham, N.C., along with many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be offered on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 11:00 AM, at The River- A Wesleyan Church, 35175 Roxana Road, Frankford, DE. where friends may visit one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be private at the Roxana Cemetery.
The family would like to especially thank the Doctors and Nursing Staff at Beebe Healthcare and Delaware Hospice for their dedicated compassionate care, and the kind support offered by the members of the Beebe Medical Foundation.
