Callista "Collie" M. Barwick's Obituary
Callista M. “Collie” Barwick, age 84, of Lewes, DE, formerly of Newark, DE passed away on Monday, December 2, 2013, at Brandywine Assisted Living in Rehoboth Beach, DE. She was born on March 12, 1929, in Montclair, NJ, daughter of the late Robert W. and Callista (Sulfnur) McKelvey.
Mrs. Barwick graduated from the University of Delaware in 1951 with her BS degree in Home Economics. While studying at the University, she met the love of her life, Ralph who she later married and settled in Newark, DE to raise a family with.
A dedicated wife and mother, she fostered a loving home instilling an appreciation for volunteering in her family. Mrs. Barwick enjoyed volunteering as a Tour Guide with Iron Hill Museum in Newark, DE and also with the Children’s Beach House in Lewes, DE. She loved gardening, reading, music and cooking a delightful meal for all. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great -grandmother and will be remembered as a very outgoing, sweet woman who had a kind word for all.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barwick was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Ralph P. Barwick and a brother, Robert McKelvey. She is survived by her two sons: James Barwick and wife Sherri of Winter Springs, FL and John Barwick of Lewes, DE; her daughter, Patricia DeBoda and husband Scott of Newark, DE; seven grandchildren: Jay Barwick and fiancé Heather; Brian Barwick and wife Mary; Zach DeBoda and wife Becca; Mike DeBoda; Kelsey DeBoda; Ryan Barwick; Brennan Barwick and 2 great-grandchildren: Destiny DeBoda and Dominick DeBoda.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Vitas Hospice, 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713.
