Having reached retirement not long ago here in Singapore where I live, I have been going through decades' worth of files and correspondence, among which I found a few letters from Bruce from long ago. I had befriended him back in 1980-82, when I was last in the USA, and we corresponded for awhile subsequently but later lost touch. I felt an overwhelming desire to re-connect with him so did a search, but was deeply saddened to learn that he had passed two and one-half years ago. I still can't come to terms with this. I very much enjoyed Bruce's company, and on a more frequent basis when I last visited the US in the summer of 1982 and was living in New Jersey. I'm almost sure I met you briefly at that time, Dianne, and can't begin to tell you how sorry I am, because I did know that you and Bruce enjoyed a close relationship, as he did with many of his family members. By way of a tribute to him, I'd like to offer this photographic tribute, which consists of an extract from the last letter I received from him way back in January 1985, at which time he wrote me about an exquisite dinner party he had held at his new place in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and about his new dog who, I take it, swiftly became a close, faithful companion. I'm sure Bruce wouldn''t mind me sharing this extract, along with the photo he sent me. I'd also like to include a photo of the South Mountain nature park where we liked to take walks together. Dianne, I hope you see this post and even though it is public, I'm including my e-mail address here as I would so like to hear from you after all these many, many years. Once again, my deepest condolences, albeit belatedly, to you and all who knew and loved Bruce for the vivacious person he was.
