Bruce R. Burton's Obituary
Bruce Rowland Burton Sr, age 62 of Lewes, DE passed away on Sunday March 27, 2022. He was born in Lewes, DE on March 14, 1960, son of late Freda Hudson Burton and Captain William Virden Burton, Jr.
Bruce was raised in Lewes and was proud to be known as a Beebe baby. From a very young age he loved to be on the water or doing anything outdoors. Like many of the Burtons, he was a builder and very skilled with his hands.
Bruce took pride in his work in the building trade for many years and loved to tell stories of travels and about the commercial fishing days of his 20's, fishing the Atlantic from Newfoundland, Canada to the territorial borders of Cuba. He loved to travel and sightsee by any means he could. Celebrating the fourth of July with as many fireworks as possible and being with family and friends was always something he looked forward to. Above all else, he cherished the time spent with those he held most dear.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William "Skipper" Virden Burton, III. He is survived by his children Carey Burton of Milton, DE, Bruce Burton, Jr. of Lewes, DE, Shannon Street of Albuquerque, NM, Michael Harrigan of Milton, DE, Taylor Harrigan of Milton, DE, Justin Harrigan of Milton, DE; his brother, Randy Burton (Riki) of Lewes, DE; his sisters, Chris Hocker Allen (Bob) of Ocean View, DE, and Sandra Burton Strahosky (Bill) of Mechanicsburg, PA.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Home, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may call beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton, DE.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic social distancing protocols must be observed and masks must be worn by everyone participating in any aspect of the service.
