Bobby J. Woodland's Obituary
Bobby “Woody” J. Woodland, age 77, of Lewes, DE, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Lorien Columbia Nursing Centre, Columbia, MD. He was born on Sunday, August 27, 1933, in Finley, OH, son of the late Harley J. and Mary (Gladys) Woodland.
Mr. Woodland spent 20 plus years working for Woodward and Lothrop Department Store in Wheaten, MD. In 1990 he moved from Silver Spring, MD, to Lewes and worked for Besche Furniture of Georgetown, DE, and then Oak Creek Furniture of Milton, DE until his retirement in 1999. Mr. Woodland served on the homeowners association of Hunters Mill Estates, Milton; he enjoyed relaxing at home watching his favorite television programs and collecting 1950’s era music albums. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Woodland was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Bette Chase (Cross) Woodland. He is survived by his son, Robert S. Chase and his wife Freda of Highland, MD; and three grandchildren: Stephanie, Derek, and Matthew Chase, all of Highland, MD.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011, 1:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958, where friends may visit beginning at 12:00 PM. Internment will immediately follow at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton, DE 19968.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803-016.
