Beverly Marion Davis' Obituary
Beverly Marion Eckert Davis, age 93 of Newark, DE passed peacefully on the Accent Care Hospice Unit of Wilmington Hospital, DE on Friday July 17, 2026. She was lovingly known as Bev, Mom and her greatest calling, Me-Mom. Beverly, an avid planner was married to Jenkin L Davis for 66 years and chose to leave us on the exact date as Jenk, 1 year later.
Born on June 4, 1933, in Lakewood, NJ, Beverly was the daughter of the late Charles and Birdie Eckert of Toms River, NJ and outlived her 2 older brothers, Charles and James Eckert. Beverly was a 1951 graduate of Toms River High School and a 1959 graduate of Albert Einstein Medical Center School of Nursing where she met Jenkin and started her nursing career in PA. She married in 1959 and raised her daughters in Delaware County PA where she lived until 1987 when she and Jenkin moved to FL. Living in Florida was always a dream for Beverly who grew up on the Jersey shore and as a teen worked on the Seaside Heights Boardwalk. She continued her nursing career as an RN in West Palm Beach, FL and later moved to Sebring where she and Jenkin discovered new friends and routines in an over-55 community. After almost 30 years in FL Bev and Jenk moved to Milton, DE in 2017 to live with family. In DE, Beverly was happy to be Me-Mom to her grand and great grandchildren right up to her last days in Hospice care.
Beverly is survived by her 2 daughters Gayle P. Jones (Dennis) of Newark, DE and Lynda J. Lopes (the late Jack) of Hickory, NC; her 5 grandchildren Rebecca Miller (Justin) of VA, Anakristen Scurti (Dominic) of DE, Joshua Gamble of SC, DJ Jones (Olivia) of VA, and Caleb Gamble (Cassandra) of FL; and her 5 great-grandchildren: Jonah Miller of VA, Emelia Scurti and Mirabelle Scurti of DE, Paislee Gamble and Kinslee Gamble of FL.
Beverly adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. All her grandchildren would agree their best memories of Me-Mom were spending summer vacations in Orlando and the oldest grands, adventures in the Bahamas. Me-Mom always had the trip planned with surprise adventures that will never be erased from everyone’s memory. Throughout her nursing career in PA and FL she cared for others and always enjoyed going to church and for the last few years watching church online. Most recently, Beverly was heard singing “Now I Belong to Jesus” and often remarked during her last days that she could not wait to see Jesus.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 23, at 3:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958. A visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, prior to the service. Interment will be private at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Beverly's name to Eagle's Nest Church, 26633 Zion Church Rd., Milton, DE 19968 or Accent Care Hospice, Accentcare Hospice | Seasons Hospice Foundation.
