Beverly Lynn Corelle's Obituary
Beverly Lynn Corelle, age 79 of Dewey Beach, DE, beloved community leader and friend, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 6, 2021. She was born on December 3, 1941 in Salisbury, NC, daughter of the late Ralphs and Louise (Dunn) Corelle.
After graduating high school, Beverly earned a BA in Chemistry and Mathematics from Catawba College in Salisbury, where she was presented the Whitener Award, the highest honor given at graduation, and served as a leader and award recipient in many of her college organizations. She went on to receive a BS in Chemistry from the Univ. of Tennessee (Knoxville), and later a MA in Education Administration from John Hopkins University (Baltimore, Maryland). Her heart was in teching and taught many years in the public high school system, Old Dominion University in Virginia, and Virginia Wesleyan College.
Beverly served as President of the Maryland State Teacher's Association and the Delaware State Teacher's Association. She served on the Dewey Beach Board of Elections and Volunteered for the IRS helping people fill out their tax returns. Beverly was extremely knowledgeable on government issues and always willing to help out her fellow citizens. She fought for the rights of the underserved and was a civic leader in her community. Beverly had a love of gardening, walking on the beach, observing the beauty of nature, birdwatching, politics, taking care of animals, and heartily loved her two cats, Rowan and Tuxie, whom she leaves behind.
Beverly is survived by Dr. Drew and Barbara Edwards of Clemmons, NC; beloved and treasured friends: Pat Wright of Asheville, NC and Elaine Bole of Dewey Beach and Washington, DC; other survivors include: Jacque and Frank Ridout, Kelly and Margo Cooper, and Judy and Jerry Spivey.
Services are private.
