Betty Ann Swift's Obituary
Betty Ann Powell Swift, age 78 of Georgetown, DE, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. She was born on October 14, 1939 in Frankford, DE, daughter of the late John and Ethel Powell.
Betty was happiest when family and friends gathered around the table to share a meal and tell life stories. She was sweet, kind, funny, and had a huge heart. Her family already misses her dearly.
She was married for 55 years to her beloved husband, Gordy O. Swift, and is also survived by her children: Joe Gray (Gisela), Dawn Rogers (Brooke), Lisa Swift, Fran Swift, Bill Swift, and Norman Swift (Sherry); her ten grandchildren, whom she adored: David Swift, Steven Gray, Nicole Gray, Samantha Welch, James Bradley, Wendy Evans, Amy Kuehl, Emily Martinez, Josh Swift, and Jacob Swift. Betty also loved spoiling her eight great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her brothers: Russell Powell and Jimmy Powell; her sister, Brenda Joseph; her sister-in-law, Pauline Crowder; and her step-brother-in-law, Paul Walker and his family.
Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Darlene Moore; her daughter-in-law, Missy Swift; and her son-in-law, Grant Smith.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 1:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 North Bedford Street; Georgetown, DE, where friends may call beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow the services at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE.
