Betty Jane Polite's Obituary
Betty Jane (Purcell) Polite, age 79, of Lewes, DE, passed away quietly at her home on Monday, October 2, 2006, after a long illness. She was born October 6, 1926 in Houston, DE, daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Virginia (Armour) Purcell.
Mrs. Polite loved history, collecting post cards, and scrapbooking. She enjoyed people, loved her family, and diligently recorded her family's history.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Armour, Donald, Andrew, Paul, and Stephen; four sisters: Gertie, Millie, Maxine, and Grace; and two grandsons, Doug W. Brockway, Jr. and Nicholas Ryan Sackett.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Andrew W. Polite; her children, Don, Peggy, Debi, and Teri; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her brother David Purcell of Nebraska; her sister Mary Lou Beachy of Greenwood, DE; and four step-sisters, Connie Connelly of Texas, Julie Ramey, Anda Rae White, and Bertha Dale Chaplin, all of Virginia.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, October 6, 2 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Beaver Dam Road, near Angola, DE. Delaware Hospice Chaplain, Doug Albert will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to one of Betty's favorite charitable organizations, the Christian Appalachian Project, P.O. Box 511 Lancaster, KY 40444-0511 or to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
