Younger years remembered
So many of my amazing core childhood memories revolved around Gramma. I remember thinking it was the best vacation everytime I got to stay over at her house in Fredericksburg. She was one of the most caring and loving people that would do anything to make the people she loved happy. These are some of my favorite memories with her to name a few:
- When I was super young, she got me the BEST present ever which was the infamous stuffed bunny. I brought him everywhere, but being the clumsy kindergartner that I was, I brought Bunny to school one day to show all my friends and I LOST HIM. I was so devastated, but lone behold the next time I saw Gramma, she had bought me not only one new bunny but TWO. She needed a second backup in case I decided to lose Bunny Junior.
- I’ve always loved crafts and creating things, so whenever I went to Camp Gramma, she took me to every child’s dream place (no not Disneyland): Michael’s Craft Store! We would buy crafts to do together based off whatever holiday was happening around that time. She also taught me how to knit and even got me into a sewing phase.
- She not only helped fix any clothes I had, but she made me Halloween costumes. She even made clothes and bedding for my American Girl Doll (Grampa built an American Girl Doll sized bed to go with her).
- Sleepovers with Gramma were also some of my favorite memories growing up (other than the fact she would usually wake me up with her snoring), but it was always worth it since she let me stay up super late watching tv (only at Camp Gramma!)
- Last but not least, we had a routine of always going to Red Lobster and getting my favorite Carls ice cream afterwards (even though she couldn’t actually have any herself). Best place ever!
Needless to say, everything Gramma did was to make those that she loved feel loved. Having her gone is going to be extremely difficult, but I know she is in a much happier place and reunited with Grampa. For that, I am extremely grateful.

Kate, Ashley, Chuck,
Russell and I send our hugs to you. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to meet Betty. She raised such a loving, patient, and kind daughter who made personal sacrifices to care for her until her final breaths. We pray that you find comfort in your memories. May Betty rest in peace with her beloved husband.
