Betty Jeanne Linthicum, age 89, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 21, 2018 at Brandywine Senior Living in Rehoboth Beach. She was born in Washington, DC, the daughter of the late Robert Emmett O’Brien and E Read Obituary

We've always said you did an excellent job of taking care of your Mom.
Betty meant so much to me as I was growing up. What a wonderful friend she was.
I still remember the day when I was about 10 years old and living with your grandmother when Betty asked me whether I was going to church with her. I told her I wanted to, but couldn't because I didn't have any good shoes to wear. She told me "God doesn't care what kind of shoes you wear." I still remember that after all these years.
May she rest in the peace that she so richly deserves.

Of course we met all of you in the early '80 through Betty's sister, Miss Pat and Craig Meier who lived next door to us in Virginia Beach.
Debbie and Michael, we reconnected with you in 2015 during your visit to help care for your Aunt Pat, when she was very ill. Our memory of your compassion and love of family will remain with us forever.

I met Betty in the mid-1980's as the mother of my University of Maryland student, Michael. I left the area, but visited for many years. At those times, I usually stayed in Betty's home in Wheaton, sometimes bringing friends. Always we were warmly welcomed. She also offered us a place to stay in the summer in Rehobeth Beach. Most of my beach vacations would not have been possible without Betty's generosity. Betty's kindness and graciousness will remain in my memory.
I first met Betty when she lived with Debbie and Dean. I would sit across from her at the times I had dinner with them. When I realized how hard it was on Deb to be over at Brandywine every day (many times more than once) I offered to take lunch duty with Ms Betty. Although she didn’t initially remember me she did week to week. She love my kiss routine as I left it always made her laugh. I will miss “miss Betty” but know she’s in a better place. She was blessed with an incredibly caring daughter who made sure she was well cared for always. It was a privilege to be part of Betty’s life. I will make sure we care after Debbie as she struggles with this loss.
Betty was a very kind and sweet woman. I had the pleasure of making her acquaintance about 15 years ago. Betty has found her final resting place and is whole once again.
Betty was surely loved by her daughter Debbie. If you knew Debbie, then you knew how much her Mom meant to her. May God bless Debbie and comfort her and her family in their grief! Debbie's (Irish) friend, Karen
