I worked with Bernie from 1982 to 1984, at the U.S. Army Computer Systems Command as head Secretary for all 4 branches to the Division. Director and Branch Chief Anne Caluori once wrote “ESSD was home to 70-100 of the most talented, eccentric, spirited operating systems programmers at any one time in its roughly 35 year history.” I will vouch for that. And Bernie, along with his wonderful wife Betty, made that place come alive with an honest commitment to maintain and enhance a sophisticated environment. I was humbled to be a part of their lives, and will never forget Bernie’s humor and smarts, and making me feel like family. Both Bernie and Betty were near and dear to my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Rest peacefully dear man, your memory will forever stay alive in the hearts of those who knew you and had the opportunity to share time during those years I can honestly say, were the very best.
