Ben, the man for all seasons.. the bike rider, jogger, surfer and snow plower!!
We first met Ben and Karen in the fall of 2006 in our new community. We lived next door to each other and quickly became friends. We called them the energizer bunnies and the eager beavers. They were always going and doing.
During the winter, when we had snow storms, Ben would plow his driveway with his snow blower and then do ours and go and do others in our cul-de-sac, and Karen would shovel walkways and steps. They were the best neighbors anyone could ask for.
Ben loved his Lionel train set and its landscapes that he set up every year, it grew and grew with gifts from his family.
It was really huge. I would bring my sons and their girlfriends over to see it at the holidays. It was magnificent and he was so proud of it.
His other every year around the holidays tradition was his pork and cabbage for New Years Day, of
which we had with them many times. One year I made black eyed peas for good luck.
Denis and Ben had the love of sports in common, and it was always a topic of conversation when we all got together or saw him outside in the yard. Of course each had their own teams to root for.
Ben was much the tour guide. When we visited them in Wildwood or Hilton Head he would enjoy taking us around and showing us the sites and all he knew about the area.
Ben and Karen are the reason why we are living down here off island of Hilton Head.
We send our sympathies and condolences to Karen and the family.

Ben and Karen were our favorite B&B guests for many years. Not many Penn State football games were missed by them. These two became friends and Ben always decorated their apartment with various Penn State items. We enjoyed a cruise up the New England coast with them. Ben will always remain in our hearts and be missed.
Was so sorry to hear of Ben's passing on Friday. Spent many fun years as friends of both Ben and Karen in Hilton Head Island S.C. Thoughts and prayers are with Karen and family during this difficult time. With Love from your Canadian Friends the Hannan Family Sue, Dave Hazel, Lauren and Cali Hannan
Very sorry! Ben and I worked together many times for Ambler Olympic Club from the late 1980s through the 90s. He was smart, fun and always willing to help at the club. A great guy. You have my prayers Karen and family. Frank DiMaria
Our hearts are sad, we will miss your beautiful smile. You welcomed us into the neighborhood with open arms … and we immediately became friends. Your kindness and loving manner made us feel right at home. We will do our best to help your loving wife, Karen… get through this season in her life. Our Dear Lord has you in the palm of his hands… Fly Ben…. You are free at last.
