Barry Kerstetter Hilbeck's Obituary
Barry Hilbeck, 74, of Milton Delaware passed away peacefully on Monday, August 13 at Delaware Hospice. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Ruth and Harry Hilbeck he spent 20 years traveling in the United States Army and then retired to Milton, Delaware where he met his wife Beth Smith. Barry is survived by his wife Beth, two daughters Heather A. Skelley and husband Max of Lewes Delaware, Holly L. Bickel and husband Terry of Altoona Pennsylvania. He is also survived by two step sons Eric Smith and wife Mimi of Washington D.C., Clayton Smith of Seattle, Washington, and six grandsons Tjart Steelman, Dylan Skelley, Ben Skelley, Carson Bickel, Oliver Smith and Pax Smith. Barry is also survived by one brother Jack Hilbeck of Lewes,Delaware and one sister Ruthann Brooks of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.
Barry was a 1964 Graduate of Springfield High School in Springfield Pennsylvania, he then enlisted in the United States Army and served 23 years with overseas tours to Vietnam, Hawaii, Germany, and Japan. After retiring to Delaware he joined Midway Assembly Of God where he became an active member of his church community and served on the board. Barry was a man of deep faith and looked forward to serving his church and helping others. His hobbies included fishing, building model railroads, and spending time with his wife Beth on their boat on Red Mill Pond. He looked forward to Christmas as he loved decorating with thousands of lights.
A memorial service will be held at Midway Assembly of God on Saturday August 18 at 4:00 pm. Barry will be deeply missed by family and friends. In honor of his memory, memorial donations may be made to Home of the Brave in Milford, Delaware or Delaware Hospice.
