Barbara Alena Janssens Mento, age 75, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at the Country Rest Home after a long and courageous battle with dementia. Barbara was born in Port Arthur, Texas, to Mildred Hebert Janssens and Read Obituary
I enjoyed walking with Barbara and Sadie in the neighborhood and talking with her. She always held onto Sadie’s leash even though sometimes Sadie would pull Barbara a little bit. She loved her walks with her dog. I enjoyed my special time with her. She will be missed.
Debbie and I were always traveling between Florida and Maine throughout the years to visit Debbie's family. We normally stopped and stayed with Barbara and Tony on the way. They always took us in, Steven and Justin would frequently stop by to say hi! Our fondest memories were of Barbara taking care of us while we visited with her and Tony.

We will always remember Barbara as a very warm and kind person who always showed a positive attitude with her wonderful smile and sense of humor. We will be sorely miss her.

I have a memory of mom being very funny. We were at the after party of a 5k and one of my buddies, who is from England, told this really long and involved story to my mom, who was nodding and agreeing in all the right places. Then when the story was over, my mom turned to me and said, "I sure wish he had subtitles :-)" - Everyone in the room was laughing - it was very funny!
