Barbara L. Coverdale's Obituary
Barbara L. Coverdale, age 70, of Harbeson, DE, peacefully entered heavens gates on January 4, 2019 at Beebe Hospital in Lewes, DE surrounded by her daughter, three grandchildren and son-in-law. Barbara was born on March 14th 1948 in Milford, DE, the daughter of the late Walter "Lee" and Nancy M. (Kemper) Vanaman.
She is survived by her one and only daughter Angela Ware and her husband Bryan whom she just adored. Her grandson, Tyler Ware and two granddaughters, Tiffany Ware and Miranda Ware. She is also survived by her three siblings, sister Nancy Garringer her husband Larry, sister Virginia Fortuna her husband Joe, brother Walter Vanaman and wife Lauren, and 4 nieces, 2 nephews, and a number of other relatives and close friends, as well as her beloved pets Pumpkin and Miss Muffet (guinea pigs) and grand dog Casper.
Barbara was medical graduate from the Career Academy in Washington DC in 1967. She went on to work many positions with doctors’ offices and hospitals, and finished her career out with the blood bank of Delaware. She was also a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Lewes.
Despite of her lifelong health issues, she made the best of life and always made her family feel safe during those times that she had to fight her hardest battles. She was the strongest woman we knew and overcame many obstacles, but some unfortunately fought to her to the end. Many of her illnesses were debilitating, but she would never let them beat her. Barbara fought like no other with determination and grace to get through the toughest of times. She would never let us know just how bad times were for her because she didn't want that to burden us. With those big bright blue eyes and beautiful smile, she comforted us the best she knew how.
Barbara’s favorite thing to do was spend time with her family, especially her daughter and grandchildren. She spent many days and nights just talking about anything and everything with us. We loved watching TV with her, whether it be a cooking show, soap opera, reality TV, or new crime series. Barbara just enjoyed the company. She was an avid lover of all types of birds, but especially the hummingbird and cardinal. Barbara was a devoted mother and grandmother. The pillar of her family, she dedicated her life to raising her daughter and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
