Barbara Anne Chudzik's Obituary
Barbara Chudzik, age 75 of Wilmington and Lewes, DE, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023. She was born on December 12, 1947, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Howard “Buzz” and Anne “Nancy" Whitten.
Barbara graduated from St. Elizabeth High School, then went on to work for DuPont and the Superior Court of Delaware. She was a lifetime parishioner of St. Elizabeth Church, and her strong Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her life. Barbara will be remembered for her sharp wit. She always made people laugh and kept them on the edge of their seats with her remarkable storytelling, which often was punctuated by her predilection to curse like a sailor. Barbara enjoyed a strong whiskey sour, Peppermint Patties, family dinners, reading (especially Danielle Steel), and laughing with her crazy family. She will most be remembered as a loving and devoted mother to Erin and Lindsay and grandmother to Jude and Adam. She always prioritized family time and loved her family members unconditionally.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her in-laws, John and Elsie Chudzik. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Eugene “Gene” Chudzik; her children: Erin Chudzik-Pryor (Robert) of Wilmington, DE and Lindsay Chudzik (Justin) of Baltimore, MD; her grandchildren: Jude and Adam; her brother, Thomas Whitten (Mary Ann); and her many nieces and nephews.
Mass will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, October 16, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Church, 809 S. Broom Street, Wilmington, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 3:00 PM. A reception will follow at Five Points Fire Company, at 209 S. Maryland Avenue, Wilmington, DE.
